Yay for finally not having to look through fifteen years’ worth of accumulated scratches, I guess?
At least I have windscreen cover on my insurance. £70 excess, but I’d rather that than around £200-250.

Ever find out what that black thing was?

A new windscreen feels like a brand new car. Enjoy!

According to the mechanic dude I talked to, it’s probably a discolouration of the interlayer that keeps car windows from shattering like ordinary glass.

So essentially your windscreen has gone off.

Yup. Think of the layers of glass like clingfilm, and the off-colour interlayer like that funky looking chicken that you really should’ve thrown out a week or so ago. One puncture in the clingfilm, and suddenly your whole fridge smells like disease.

It’ll be like driving in HD.

I already get a pretty good approximation of the driving in SD versus driving in HD experience whenever I have to take my glasses off on the move, to clean them or switch with sunglasses.
The main thing I’m looking forward to is the glare reduction. All those scratches give the sun, and headlights at night, a lot of little crevices to bounce between and generally make seeing anything a hard time.

I imagine with a 106 being comparatively low to most cars glare is a nightmare.
